Description by Ivonne
I made a desk by ordering two small cabinets from TOSIZE Furniture and placing a loose plank of MDF on them. The two cabinets provide storage space with handy shelves in them and serve as a good support for the desktop. By approaching the project in this way, I had the cabinets completely ready-made and all I had to do was ensure that the desktop fit properly. Once everything was together, I painted it.
How I made this project
All the holes for the dowels on the cabinets have already been pre-drilled. That is very handy. The loose shelf obviously didn't have these holes yet, so I copied them from the top beams of the cabinets. This also prevented me from getting a double edge. Copying the holes was a bit difficult because the holes are oval. If I had to do it again, I would use a special dowel set where you can insert the dowels with a sharp point into the uprights and thus determine exactly the right location of the top beam. Once everything was together I painted it in the color Forest Green No. 277 from LAB Paint. I opted for the matte wood lacquer, so that the cupboard would blend nicely into the wall (painted in the same color). Because the material was already primed, I had to use two layers of lacquer to get it nice and opaque. To be on the safe side, I applied a third layer to the top of the desktop to prevent scratches.
Dimensions of my DIY project
The cabinets are 40.0 cm wide and 75. 0 cm high. In total, the desk is 150.0 cm wide, 50.0 cm deep and 75.0 cm high.
